Sunrise: The Engegård Quartet plays classical and folk music.
The Engegård Quartet offers an exciting program that combines Norwegian folk tunes with works by Haydn and Beethoven – composers who also included folk tunes in their compositions.
The program celebrates the spring equinox with Haydn's string quartet opus 76 no. 4, which has been named “Sunrise”, and which is a light-filled masterpiece. Beethoven was in his "heroic" period when he wrote opus 59 no. 3, which is one of quartet literature's finest works.
